Starting point is 00:00:00 The Joe Rogan Experience. Starting point is 00:00:20 So you were telling me before we got rolling, I said, save it, let's just talk about it. Starting point is 00:01:12 Yeah. Starting point is 00:01:50 opportunity to go with her to different doctor's appointments. And I grew up in New York city. So Starting point is 00:02:28 drugs for both Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. It wasn't until a few years later that Starting point is 00:03:08 the first symptom, 10, 20, 30 years even by some estimates. And so for me, this became something Starting point is 00:04:00 documentary on dementia as a potentially preventable condition. We've all seen Starting point is 00:04:39 that is, that's a very empowering insight. That means that we have agency to change our cognitive Starting point is 00:05:18 actually, at Weill Cornell in New York. And I actually became, ultimately I became, um, a collaborator with the, uh, Starting point is 00:06:08 just severely downshifted almost, almost overnight. Um, and so my mom never, my mom never like forgot Starting point is 00:07:04 environmental factors or any other things that people consume? Starting point is 00:07:53 there are basically two categories of risk. You have your non-modifiable risk factors, Starting point is 00:08:21 making them, therefore, a non-modifiable risk factor. Starting point is 00:08:59 CTE, yeah. Starting point is 00:09:35 When you look to people, we've evolved these different isoforms of the APOE gene. So we have APOE2, 3, and 4. And just to reiterate, Starting point is 00:10:25 is sort of the canary in the coal mine for the Western way of life. Starting point is 00:10:49 But if you were to take somebody with that same genotype, right, and move them to a less Starting point is 00:11:33 Is that why this ApoE4 is less prevalent than it is in other cultures? You know, it's possible, although with age being the primary risk factor, it's unlikely that that has put significant selection...
