Episode Overview

Comedian Mike Vecchione joins Joe for a wide-ranging conversation about stand-up, Italian sports, ancient history myths, and the challenge of making art versus making money. Vecchione opens by paying tribute to Richard Jeni, the underappreciated comic he was thinking about that morning, and talks about the ladder board agility training he's been doing. The episode features a deep appreciation for Calcio Storico — the brutal Florentine sport that combines rugby and MMA played in Renaissance costumes — and footage of a rodeo bull release that goes sideways. A history thread debunks the Roman vomitorium myth: the ancient Romans used the word, but pop culture invented the idea that they purged after eating. A longer philosophical stretch covers the futility of trusting corrupt systems, how you navigate life once you accept that most institutions are compromised, and the argument for making things that matter rather than things designed only to generate profit.

There's there's a lot of ways to avoid it You know people just accept it, but what what you're telling me right there? Starting point is 00:01:23 With not being able to get your leg up, that's a hamstring issue. So one thing, hamstrings and quads and glutes, all the tightness in those areas will absolutely affect your back. Because any time you have restricted range of motion and you're really tight, everything else is tight too. So everything is kind of pulled down. Starting point is 00:01:44 And you have to figure out a way to lengthen that shit out and There's a lot of different stretches you could do but you definitely should be doing them Nobody likes a s...
