Episode Overview

Joe Rogan welcomes cognitive neuroscientist Julia Mossbridge, a researcher with a unique background in both traditional science and the study of what she terms "funky time," or precognition. Mossbridge shares her early experiences with precognitive dreams, which began at age seven and continued throughout her life, eventually leading her to integrate these phenomena into her scientific research despite academic skepticism. She details the challenges of pursuing such topics in academia, noting how her published papers on precognition have been actively suppressed or ignored, and how she was advised to remove such work from her resume to advance her career. This resistance pushed her to explore practical applications of these abilities outside traditional academic settings. The conversation deepens as Mossbridge explains her experimental approaches to studying precognition, focusing on physiological responses to future events, and reveals fascinating gender differences in these responses. She then introduces her work with non-speaking autistic individuals, presenting compelling anecdotes and a video clip illustrating instances of apparent telepathy and shared precognitive experiences among these individuals, including a "telepathy train" phenomenon and spontaneous suggestions for improving communication. Mossbridge also touches on the concept of language potentially suppressing innate psychic abilities and connects these ideas to the filter theory of consciousness, where the brain acts as a filter for a broader, universal consciousness. The episode concludes with a discussion of Mossbridge's book, "Have a Nice Disclosure," which explores personal disclosure and inner wisdom rather than external revelations about aliens, and her experiences in a potentially ethically dubious "gifted program" during her childhood, leading her to question government involvement in such initiatives.

About Julia Mossbridge

Julia Mossbridge is a cognitive neuroscientist who has dedicated her research to studying precognition and what she calls "funky time," building on her own experiences with precognitive dreams beginning in childhood. Despite facing significant academic resistance and suppression of her published papers on precognition, she has pursued experimental approaches to understand physiological responses to future events and has begun exploring these phenomena outside traditional academic settings. Her work extends to researching non-speaking autistic individuals, where she has documented apparent telepathic and precognitive experiences, and she explores consciousness through frameworks like filter theory in her book "Have a Nice Disclosure."

[00:00:01] Joe Rogan podcast, checking out. The Joe Rogan Experience. Train by day, Joe Rogan podcast by night, all day. Pleasure to meet you. Yeah, I'm very excited. So you said you had questions for me? Yeah. We can start with your questions. [00:00:20] Excellent. First of all, tell everybody what you do. Okay, let me just change the angle of this. Just so folks just tuning in right now, we're like, who is this young lady? Thank you. What do you do? I'm a year younger than you. They're young. [00:00:35] Nice. What do I do? I was trained as a scientist, cognitive neuroscience and computer science, and did some AI stuff, did some stuff with the human brain in terms of trying to understand how time works in the human brain. And then I got really interested in how funky time works in the human brain, like precognition, which is, of course, predicting future events in ways that we don't normally think about it. That's how I found out about it. That's the popular mechanics article. [00:01:21] And they're in us and they can be developed. And some people have them just sort of naturally. I'm a person who has some of them just naturally, not all of them. But there are people all over who have these different gifts and how does that work. And so that became a question that was interesting. to me. Well, it's always interesting when it's this, this question is asked by an actual scientist. So you approach it by, let's, let's try to gather data. Let's try to find out what we can actually show. Because so many people have feelings that there's something else. Like there's, you have intuition, you have some sort of pre-knowledge of events and some feeling of something. You're thinking of someone and they call you. Is that real? You know, that kind of stuff is always public. So it's always fascinating when someone like yourself actually spends a lot of time studying it and trying to gather data and trying to show what's real and what's not and what you can actually show. I agr...
