Episode Overview

Joe opens with Chase Hughes’s viral description of an intravenous DMT experience, which involved a controlled, five-and-a-half-hour psychedelic journey where he could adjust his “altitude” and even take a "pee break." Hughes recounts how during this profound experience, he repeatedly asked if he was dead and felt immense sadness returning to his ego-bound reality, likening it to "Avatar Depression times a million." He shares a striking personal anecdote where alien-like beings seemingly "fixed" his heart and brain, an intervention his wife had specifically prayed for, given his ongoing conditions of mesial temporal sclerosis and a heart issue. The conversation then explores the nature of reality, perception, and the potential of psychedelics. Hughes posits that dreams suggest consciousness fabricates our perceived reality, drawing parallels between brain cells and the universe itself, and discussing the concept of infinite fractal universes within each other. The discussion touches on the historical suppression of psychedelics, their potential to dissolve ego and foster unity, and how this might explain ancient psychedelic art found in mosques and religious texts like "The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross." Hughes champions psychedelics, especially Ibogaine, for their non-addictive, neuroregenerative properties and their ability to induce rapid, profound shifts in perspective, contrasting this with the slow progress of traditional therapies. Shifting gears, Joe recounts the historic UFC 250 fight at the White House, detailing the perfect weather, the massive crowd, and the unprecedented outcome of every fight ending in a knockout. He particularly highlights Justin Gaethje’s underdog victory, attributing it to his extraordinary durability and "zero quit" mentality rather than superior technical skill. The two then critique mainstream media and societal narratives, discussing how social media and political polarization foster a "loneliness pandemic" and a "disease of specialness" by incentivizing performative behavior and demonizing nuance. Hughes introduces his "PSYOPs index," a tool to identify government and corporate propaganda, and reveals his new YouTube channel, "Station One," dedicated to exposing these manipulations, arguing that greater public awareness is key to making psyops irrelevant.

About Chase Hughes

Chase Hughes is a consciousness researcher and psychedelic advocate known for his viral account of a controlled intravenous DMT experience where he reported encountering alien-like beings that seemed to address his underlying medical conditions. He explores the intersection of psychedelics, consciousness, and reality perception, arguing that dreams and fractal universe theory suggest consciousness fabricates our experienced reality. Hughes has developed a "PSYOPs index" to identify government and corporate propaganda and launched a YouTube channel called "Station One" focused on exposing media manipulation and societal narratives around polarization and ego-driven behavior.

[00:00:01] Joe Rogan podcast, check it out. The Joe Rogan Experience. Train by day, Joe Rogan podcast by night, all day. Hey, Joe. Good to see you. Good to see you, man. What's happening? How are you? [00:00:17] Good. Been really good. Just got into Austin last night. I watched these videos of you describing this intravenous DMT experience. And the first thing I said is I needed to talk to this guy about that. Like, that seems like one of the most insane descriptions of anything than anybody's ever experience that I've ever seen online. Yeah. [00:00:40] So tell me about this experience. So it's DMT and this guy makes it and they put it into a pump and it's like an anesthesia pump that you'd have in like an operating room. And essentially they can adjust your like milliliters per hour dose like they would use for anesthesia. and like they launch you off. You're laying, the space is beautiful. They hold the space really well. And they can... What do you mean by that? [00:01:38] And the cool thing about this pump is that you can adjust your altitude. So, like, you could be in the middle of this and say, I need to go up more. I want to come down. If you need to take a pee break, they'll, like, pull you down. You kind of go onto the runway, and then you go pee, and you come back and you launch right back up as high as you want to go, as fast as you want to go. So it's five and a half hours. and I did one P-break, but it is, it's DMT. [00:02:09] Like, the highest you can feel on DMT, like the most you can see on DMT, but it's five and a half hours of that. And the next time I go back, we're going to mix Alzheimer's drugs with this. Why? To see how much I can bring back. To see if it improves, like, the retrieval. Like, because you know, like, when you're in the DMT space, you're like, I have access to all this stuff like, oh my God, I wish I could bring this back. I want to bring this back so bad. [00:02:53] I've had like profound dreams or really bizarre dreams. And...
